Sweethearted Russian nature of the middle belt in all its glory appears before the visitors of the national park on the river Ugra. Technically, the park is located on the banks of three rivers: Ugra, Zhizdra and Vyssa, but the two other tributaries of the Oka for some reason are not included in the name.
This park is historically very young - it was founded in 1997 . Its area is huge - almost 100 000 hectares . It was created to protect the natural resources of the central strip of Russia, as well as for recreation and tourism . But the park is interesting not only for its magnificent nature and rare species of plants, animals and birds . In this territory are also numerous monuments of archeology (the oldest belong to the stone centuries), medieval fortifications, homesteads, monastic complexes, and even the mass graves of Soviet soldiers, since there were fighting in this territory during the Great Patriotic War .
It is very interesting to visit the excavations of the Gorodishche near the village of Nikola-Lenivets. Local fortifications went down in history as standing on the river Ugra. It was after this battle, which occurred in the late fifteenth century, that the burden of the Tatar-Mongol yoke was dropped. And today archaeologists are trying to reconstruct the buildings of Slavs once living here, the Vyatichi.
The animal world here is so diverse that it even amazes seasoned naturalists. Here there are moose, roe deer, wild boar, marten, mink, muskrat. Among the birds, the most interesting are wood grouse, eared owls, owl, waterfowl and marsh birds. Many animals and birds are listed in the Red Book of Russia. Of particular importance is the hazelnut, or chilim, entered in the Red Book
Tourism in this national park is very well developed . The figures themselves speak for themselves: more than 20 routes (pedestrian, equestrian, automobile) with a wide variety of subjects are offered . @ It will be interesting for lovers of wildlife, and local lore, and just for everyone who enjoys spending time outdoors . Fishermen there is wonderful fishing here, because Ugra is one of the cleanest rivers in central Russia . Here you can fish and in winter, and in summer, in the lake and in the river, and spinning, fishing rod or "peretyazhku" . In addition to fishing, in the national park you can do "quiet hunting", and also picking berries . You can soak in a Russian bath and taste Russian cuisine .
Of course, in such a a wonderful place will want to stay longer. For this purpose, all conditions have been created: there are three tourist bases, a hotel, but you can also stay in your own tent. Of the amenities here, however, only water and electricity, but this is more of a plus, because in such a place you want to forget about all the blessings of civilization and remain alone with nature.
