One of the most interesting constructions is the lacy Shukhov tower made of steel 128 m high, built in 1929 on the left bank of the Oka near the city of Dzerzhinsk as a power line support. Shukhov Tower on the Oka consists of five sections in the form of one-sheeted hyperboloid rotation and does not have curved parts. The sections are made up of straight profiles with straight beams, which form a special lattice, reinforced with steel round holders. Wind load, dangerous for high-altitude structures, in this case is minimal, which gives the structure strength. In addition, the design also has a curious "optical effect": standing very close to the tower and looking upwards it seems that it is bending.

Today the tower is designed by V. G. Shukhov in Switzerland, Japan, Czech Republic, Spain and other countries - the invention of the Russian design engineer was very much in demand.

City of Dzerzhinsk, left bank of the Oka. From the bus station Dzerzhinsk to the village Dachnyi bus number 105. Next - on foot along a dirt road through a pine forest on the banks of the Oka. The tower can also be accessed by one of the dirt roads from the village of Dachny or the village of Babino.
