The name of Nicholas Benois is inseparably linked with the history of Peterhof and the huge number of palaces, chapels, bridges and embankments that this outstanding architect designed. But there is in the "brainchild" Peter one place, which for many tourists remains unknown. And the place is the station "New Peterhof", amazing in its beauty and elegance, the railway station designed by the genius Benois.
The little-known attraction of Peterhof, which, as if in a fairy tale, grows with its gothic spiers in the Central Russian expanses, deserves no less attention than famous fountains and parks of the ensemble of Peter. But due to the fact that most of the tourists come here "on the water" or on buses, he undeservedly stands apart from the paved trails of travelers. And in vain: the station of the station "New Peterhof" in the middle of the 19th century became not only one of the first in Russia, but, perhaps, the most beautiful.
The station was built in 1854-1857. in the Neo-Gothic style, although the project was initially discussed in the style of neo-Renaissance. And yet it was this amazing architectural trend that was amazing for our latitudes, decorating the northern nature of the environs of St. Petersburg with its thin spiers, fairy-tails arches, and delicate balconies. Pay attention to the monument to the founder and the first owner of the Peterhof road - Baron A. L. Stieglitz, who stands in front of the station building.
Today the most beautiful station "New Peterhof" takes commuter trains from the Baltic railway station of St. Petersburg
Address: Peterhof. The platform is located south of the Alexandrovsky Park on the Privokzalnaya Ploshad of Peterhof
