A modest, cozy, premium cottage in the representations of blue bloods could only look so - exquisitely, tastefully, surrounded by greenery, with the barely perceptible splash of the waves of the Gulf of Finland. "Own cottage", located just 3 km to the west of the Lower Park, that's exactly what it looks like. And, despite its status, it has a very rich history: the emperors and queens visited, read, rested, went to the bay to breathe air and strolled along the ancient oak.
The Emperor Peter the Great presented this place to the famous publicist and associate Theophanes Prokopovich, whose memorable sermons could be heard at all Peter's festivities. The seaside dacha, as the estate was named, built on a hill, already at that time hosted eminent guests - the Empress Anna Ioannovna and the Princess Elizabeth Petrovna. After the death of Theophanes in 1736, becoming Empress, Elizabeth becomes the new mistress of the estate and gives her the name of "Own Dacha."
The stone two-storeyed palace, built in memory of her great father, the Empress used only as a dacha. Here she rested from government work, amused herself by farming, not allowing anyone to enter without a special report.
Alas, under Catherine II the palace became dilapidated and in the 1770s it was ordered to be rebuilt by the architect Felten. Another construction was waiting for "Own Dacha" in 1843, when the famous Stakenschneider took over its walls. What is not surprising: "Own dacha" was intended for the heir of the crown prince. The architect decided to build an estate in the style of the country palace of Louis XV (rococo), reminiscent of the golden age of the nobility. According to the expression of the maid of honor A. Tyutcheva, the palace looked like "a precious bauble of luxury and grace."
During the Second World War, the palace was badly damaged, but in 1963 it was carefully restored to the original sketches of Stackenschneider. Restored to today again to decay, collapse, become covered with dust and mold. There is an idea to make Peterhof Palace of Marriages from the "Own Dacha", but it will not be realized yet. Today you can see a refined stone staircase, cracked Atlantis, overgrown garden with a rectangular pond, bridges across ravines, one of which leads to the Trinity Church
