The beautiful and hospitable southern city of Taganrog is full of interesting places and attractions. But still for many travelers it is traditionally associated with the name of the great Russian writer Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. It was here that he was born, spent his childhood and adolescence. Several interesting museums are devoted to the writer's life in the city, one of them is the Chekhovs' Shop, located in a house where Anton Pavlovich lived for five years.
In a small house that was built in the city of Taganrog in 40-ies of the 19th century, there is an interesting and unique museum "Chekhov's Shop". This house once belonged to the merchant Moiseyev, who owned vodka stores. The Chekhov family moved here in 1869 and took it off until 1874. The move was related to the activity of Anton Pavlovich's parent, Pavel Yegorovich, who was a merchant of the 3rd Guild.
Anton Pavlovich Chekhov lived here for five years, from 9 to 14. It should be noted that the years spent in this house, apparently left a lot of memories in the writer's soul. Here in his childhood he spent a lot of time in his father's shop, sitting at the desk and watching the visitors of the store. Subsequently, many of them became prototypes of such stories as "I Want to Sleep," "Vanka", "Gimp," "Singers," "Father of the Family," "Heavy People."
It was a rich source of knowledge about human types, characters. During his stay here, Chekhov first met with the theater and even began to take the first steps in drama. Of course, the five years spent in this small house played an important role in the life of the writer.
The museum was opened in 1977 ., and the main task of the organizers of "Lavka" was to recreate the atmosphere of that environment and the situation in which it grew up and Anton Pavlovich Chekhov was formed . Itself that one of the main attractions of the museum is, in fact, the interiors of the shop, which, among other things, also reflect the rather widespread type of merchant's dwelling of that time . Of great interest are family photos from family th archive . You can see here also the documents . In addition, the museum exhibits the works of Chekhov's brother who possessed the talent of the painter .
