In the Far North of Russia, in the bend of the Pinega River, there is a wild reserved land, practically not mastered by man. This Pinezhsky Reserve is a standard of untouched northern nature. Until the 20th century, the human foot had not entered the sanctuary at all: anthropogenic impact was minimized. The Pinezhsky Reserve clearly demonstrates how nature could look without human intervention
Despite the fact that the reserve was created to preserve and study nature in its natural state, the tourist potential of the park should not be underestimated. Pinezhsky Reserve is really very beautiful and unusual. Let's say without exaggeration that you will not find such a nature in any other earthly corner. But if scientists are attracted by endemic plants and unusual karstic deposits, the immense forests, mountain paths, waterfalls, caves and other amazing natural wonders are more to the liking of travelers.
Animal World
The vast territory of the Pinezhsky Reserve is represented by a continuous array of natural taiga. Accordingly, in the forests there are numerous animals, characteristic of the Russian north. Among them are wolves, foxes, lynxes, hares, squirrels, mice and hundreds of other animal species. Also on the grounds of the reserve you can find rare birds listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation, in particular, owls and swans.
Vegetation world
Spruce and pine forests occupy almost 90% of the territory of the reserve. However, for birch and other deciduous groves in the park, too, there was a place. The remaining 10% of the reserve are occupied by meadows and swamps. These landscapes are characterized by their specific flora - grasses, flowers and small shrubs. In the reserve, several endemic plant species have been found, that is, those that are not found anywhere else in the world. Some species of plants are listed in the Red Book of the Arkhangelsk Region
Excursions and Accommodation in the Reserve
There are no roads in the Pinezhsky Reserve, there are only footpaths. They are visited by wonderful tourist routes, covering the most beautiful places. However, for full-fledged tourist routes they are rather limited, but as ecological paths they will completely descend.
The average duration of walks along the ecological trails of the Pinezhsky Reserve is about 2-3 hours. Such walks are within the power of everyone: big and small. This is a unique opportunity not only to get acquainted with the untouched nature of the wild north, but also to improve your body, admire the magnificent scenery and enjoy clean air.
The cost of excursions varies from 60 to 250 RUB, depending on the complexity of the route. For example, if the most usual excursion allows you to visit only the visitor center and museum of the reserve, then more complex involves visiting outstanding natural monuments: caves, waterfalls and mountain peaks. Discounts for children under 18 and large tourist groups are provided.
During the trip, we recommend that you do not descend from the foreseen trails. Also it is forbidden to make noise, frighten animals and burn fires. Observance of simple rules will save you from unwanted problems.
The Karst Karst Museum works in the territory of the Pinezhye, in which exhibits interesting samples of karst deposits of the most unimaginable shapes, colors and reliefs
