Add a review about Lake Lacha

Lake Lacha is one of the largest lakes in the Arkhangelsk region. In form, it slightly resembles a curved ellipse, elongated in the eastern part. The length of the lake extends more than 30 km, in width - 14 km. The total area of the reservoir is about 334 square meters. km. The lake runs into a dozen rivers that form bizarre deltas with bays, sandy spits and bays. In turn, the Onega River flows from the lake.

Lake Lacha is also famous among water tourists. Everyone who rafts around Vozha and Svidi or is going to raft down the Onega is sure to come here.

The basin of Lake Lacha is rather shallow: maximum depth is no more than five meters. Therefore, in summer the lake warms up well and often blooms. It is quite difficult to get to the coast, some of them are swamped, others are covered with reeds. However, on the western shores there are sandy beaches.

Lake Lacha is a very fishy place. It accounts for about 30% of the catch of the entire Arkhangelsk region. Here you can find bream, red-rind, perch, roach, pike and other freshwater fish.

Lachsky Reserve

The south-western part of the lake's water area is occupied by the Latchsky Reserve - a state nature reserve created to preserve the natural complex of the lake and Kargopol forest . On the territory of the reserve, any economic activity, including hunting and fishing nets, is prohibited. Not allowed and unorganized hiking or water tourism.

Lachsky Reserve is an incredibly beautiful place. Here you can plunge into the world of untouched nature, clean air and crystal water. The biodiversity of protected lands is very rich. In addition to common species of animals and plants, there are rare species in the wildlife reserve, listed in the Red Book of the Arkhangelsk Region. Some species of birds are protected from the number of animals in the reserve: swans, mallards, gogol, etc.

Initially, the Latchsky Reserve occupied almost the entire southern water area of the lake, and only in 1993 the territory of the natural park was cut more than twice. Nokola

Nokola village is the only one located on the shore of Lake Lacha. The rest of the settlements are not less than a couple of kilometers away. Previously, the village was quite difficult to get close - the road was absent. I had to either go by the "winter road", or by boat across the lake. Nowadays, there is an excellent road to the village, so it's worth to visit this beautiful place.

From Kargopol to Nakola is running a local road that passes through the only bridge in the city through Onega. Public transport is extremely irregular, but taxi drivers always guard the station. By the way, Kargopol bus station is located in the northern part of the city not far from the Trinity Church. You can get here by bus from the nearest Nyandoma railway station to the town of Kargopol.

Dense forests protect the village from all sides. In the vicinity, there are so many mushrooms and berries that for an unprepared person this may seem, to put it mildly, unnatural. The abundance of fish is also surprising.

Some of the villagers rent their houses. Usually accommodation costs 400-800 RUB per day, three meals a day - from 350 RUB per day, transfer from Kargopol - in 450-900 RUB. For an additional fee, vacationers can use the bathhouse and boat rental services.

Lake Lacha
Water tourism routes

Lake Lacha is also famous among water tourists. Everyone who rafts around Vozha and Svidi or is going to raft down the Onega is sure to come here. However, the most popular routes, popular even among Soviet tourists, still cover both.

Svid runs into Lacha on two sleeves, but it needs to go to the left. Further it is necessary to move along the east coast: here the coastline is less rugged. Moreover, it is easier to find a dry and convenient parking place on the eastern shore. At the northern extremity of the pond, the Onega River begins.

This famous route ends with the glorious city of Kargopol - one of the oldest centers of the Russian north. In Kargopol you can admire the amazing architectural masterpieces of Old Russian architecture, visit the museum of local lore and enjoy the delightful nature.
