There is a place in Krakow that is ideal to sit in the shade of the trees, listen to the singing of birds, escape from the bustle - in a word, a little rest from the tourist hustle and bustle sightseeing. It is called Planty - the park ring that surrounds the Old Town (Stare Miasto). Earlier here stood tall walls, which protected neighbors from frequent Polish uprisings. Over time, local residents learned to live in peace and harmony, and the walls were demolished. And to make the place not empty, they broke up the parks.

Poles like to spend time in the Plant. In any weather Planty is unique in its own way: young greens in the spring, life-giving coolness in the summer, and thick foliage perfectly protects and from small rain. In autumn, romantic walks on the carpet of yellow leaves are good, and the winter landscape pleases the traveler with snow-white blanket covering the paths, trees and benches until spring. Park ring stretches for as much as 4 kilometers, and the total area is 20 hectares. In the Plant, you can easily forget and walk, walk, walk ...

We arrived in Krakow in August. The weather was excellent. They went to the Old Town from the very morning. Closer to noon, the sun began to warm and our walking tour shifted to the Plant. I note that there are practically no trees in the Old Town. You can hide from the sun only under the umbrella of the cafe.

And Planty is a park ring around the Old Town on the site of the ruined fortress wall. There are trees, bushes, fountains, there is even a large pond with swans and ducks, many shops, ... Read full review
