Gdynia is a young city, it was built on the site of a small fishing village after the end of the First World War. It was then that Poland got access to the sea, then the construction of a sea port began in Gdynia. The first naval ship entered the port in 1923. The port became the most important city-forming factor, and by 1926 the population of Gdynia had grown from 1000 to 100 000.

The port is also famous for the fact that it was here that the Solidarity trade union movement was born, thanks to which Poland regained its independence.

During the Second World War, the city was captured by Hitler's troops and almost completely destroyed, after the war the Poles restored it literally from the ruins. Today Gdynia is one of the largest and, perhaps most modern, equipped ports in the Baltic.

Gdynia gives the impression of a modern, bright, spacious city - this is the effect of the architectural concept. The central part was built in the 20-30s of the last century, here prevails the modernist style, very popular at that time.

Tourists are sometimes surprised by memorial tablets with the inscription "monument of antiquity", but if we consider the time interval during which there is Gdynia, it becomes quite obvious that the buildings built in the first third of the 20th century are precisely the monuments of antiquity.

As in any Polish city, there are many churches here, often innovative architectural solutions were used in their construction, so they became not only places for prayers, but also decorations of the city. Kosciuska Square is decorated with various fountains, worthy of tourists' attention.

The districts of Orluv and Redlevo are very picturesque. On the steep bank, in which the high sea waves of all shades of blue are beating, a number of snow-white villas are built, which you can admire from the promenade. The landscape is good in any weather, and any weather gives him its colors. Next to these areas is the nature reserve Kemp-Redlovska, a favorite place for walking and playing sports with the citizens.

You can view the panorama of the city center, the port and its water area from the observation platform of Kamenny Mountain, which you can climb on a rather comfortable wooden staircase.
